Washington, DC. — One day after dehumanizing remarks made by President Donald Trump, he signed a proclamation for the federal holiday dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr.
Reporters questioned his comments prior sordid comments.
Flanked by former Trump campaign spokeswoman Katrina Pierson and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, Trump said in a speech that King, “Opened the eyes and lifted the conscience of our nation. He stirred the hearts of our people to recognize the dignity written in every human soul.”
After honoring the slain African American Civil Rights leaders, journalists questioned recent statements claiming that Africans and Haitians came from “shithole countries.”
As well, Trump demanded to “take them out” when referring to the 60,000 Haitians in the United States under Temporary Protective Status (TPS).
Trump did not reply. For the MLK long weekend, it is said that he will vacation and take a health test at Walter Reed memorial hospital.
