Taiwan emergency teams work overnight to recover missing and injured from a 6.4 magnitude earthquake that rattled tourist city of Hualien.
Reports say that four people are dead, 200 injured and 145 are still unaccounted for, as of 11 PM EST on Tuesday night. Pictures from the region show high rises tilting and almost toppling over and buildings crumbled at the foundation. The quake was felt as far as the island’s capital, Taipei.
In November 2017, US officials extended the US Global Entry program to Taiwanese travelers which includes a Visa Waiver Program. Since their inclusion, travel from Taiwan to the US has increased by about 60 percent; and trading relationships are expected to strengthen.
