Poem #4

In this garden lived
Nothing but the fruit
We grew to keep our love
Fresh and worthy for
A time when harsher
Weather would find us
To make our passion
Dry out in the night…
The fight to protect
An act of pure nature
Would be lost within
The faintest of time
As if the world knew
It must remind us that
We are weak and must
Be subjected to the same
Losses that all encounter…
Our garden being so fresh
And yet so delicate as
We cultivated seed by seed
Would come to symbolize
Our time in the sun and our
Moments of thoughtless bliss
