Kobe Bryant dead at 41, reports of helicopter crash says former Laker was a passenger

Multiple news sources report that legendary basketball phenom, Kobe Bryant was among 9 killed in California helicopter crash. His death yet to be confirmed.

Los Angeles awaits with their last breath in their throats, hoping that the circulating news of a local hero has not fallen. Reports continue to circulate that this morning, LA County firefighters responded to a helicopter that erupted in a blaze then downed in Calabasas. According to multiple news sources, in the helicopter was Los Angeles Laker legend, Kobe Bryant.

Reports from LA County officials did say that five people were in the helicopter. All died. They have yet to release the names. 

Bryant, who lives in Newport Coast, California, a wealthy Los Angeles suburb, is said to frequently use a helicopter. When he played for the Los Angeles lakers, he often would commute from Newport Beach to the Staples Center in a helicopter. 

The last several days for Bryant, an NBA All-Star who won five championships during a 20-year career spent, have been momentous. On Friday, Bryant’s high-scoring position as the third-highest player in the history of the NBA was surpassed by newly minted Laker, LeBron James.
