Intermezzo Podcast. Kenyan fashion designer Anyango Mpinga uses platform to advocate for trafficked women and girls

Looking across the pond, we are happy to announce the return of our favorite podcaster, Amanda Agyei, who is located in London. Her project, the “Intermezzo Podcast” documents the experiences and work of the African diaspora and beyond in Europe.

For this episode, she speaks to Anyango Mpinga is Kenyan designer with a strong vision and purpose. Evoking intersections of heritage, spiritualism, sustainability and activism, her designs are visually mesmerizing, elegant and inclusive.

Having shown her collections in fashion capitals the world over, she is currently working as mentor and advocate in a program for young creatives created by the UN and the Swarovski foundation.

Interwoven in her work is the growing advocacy to protect women and girls against trafficking with the “Free As a Human” campaign. With her campaign, she uses her platform to talk about how children get exploitative as laborers and forced to panhandle in Kenya.
