The U.S.D.A reports that only a few Black owned farms that are 1,000 acres or more. Freedom Acres Ranch owned by Nicole and Courtney Mallery is one of them.
In 2023, Nicole and Courtney Mallery were on the verge of losing their ranch—for being Black in the wrong town. In 2020, the couple purchased the foreclosed estate, but on the first day of moving in they were met with hostility from a neighbor who expressed their disapproval for them being there. The angst grew into what is described as white domestic terrorism for two years.
When we broke their story in January 2023, concerned citizens in Colorado and throughout the nation demanded that authorities step in. The exposure showed a different type of Colorado—one steeped in serious racism and alleged police misconduct. Over a year later, the Mallery’s reported to Ark Republic of their journey. One of the things they wanted to do was give us a tour of the ranch. For the tour, they showed their expansive estate in Colorado and detailed the extensive community work that sprung from their ordeal—of which is not over.

Courtney Wayne Mallery and Nicole Remitha Hawkins aka Nicole Mallery of “Freedom Acres Ranch” in Yoder Colorado have called 911 over 200 times in two years! 100% of those calls were fraudulent! The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office send at least 2 Deputies every time! The Mallery’s have made 15 to 20 calls since January 1st, 2025!!
They have NEVER been charged with false reporting, wtf!!!
