Water the seeds to nurture our needs. What your donation fuels
On December 1, 2020, Ark Republic and Black Farmers Index solidified a partnership to split our donations. Both of our organizations are Black-women led, thus we recognized our challenges of being funded. Your donation today goes to two powerful, creative social ventures.
Every cent and dime goes into operations, maintaining our websites, a modest staff and contract workers who receive the opportunity to join CWA as an associate union member. We hire and are committed to working with Black, Native, folk of color and women. Though, we welcome all dope people.
Ark Republic has hired over 80 freelancers from 3 continents, but focuses on empowering locally, and providing apprenticeships and internships for youth and young people. Your donations help pay the rising costs of internet fees, digital subscriptions, freelancers and apprentices. Included, we run a small program that prepares budding media persons to work in all areas of the industry that is facilitated by media practitioners and professors.
Black Farmers Index completed its first full year on being a non-profit in July 2021. Since our inception we have discovered over 1,000 Black growers, and over 100 community gardens. But, we are still working towards our goal.
All money to Black Farmers Index goes to updating our website and highlighting Black farmers through social media stories, news articles, and curating online and in-person events throughout the US. As well, we carry out a newsletter that provides farmers with information and opportunities to grow their business. Equally important, it helps us enter into collaborations to expand our reach. Our staff is totally volunteer, but building a database takes resources and research hours.
